Occitanie is France’s largest wine-growing region, accounting for over 30% of the country’s production. The construction of the Canal du Midi in 1681 gave a real boost to the sector, facilitating the transport and sale of wines. Wine is the main economic resource of the Aude department.

The Aude appellations are :<\/strong>\u00a0Corbi\u00e8res, Boutenac, Cabard\u00e8s, Limoux, La Clape, Malep\u00e8re, Minervois, Fitou and Muscat (Saint Jean Minervois).<\/strong>
