Narbonne<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Narbonne is a 15-minute drive from Canet d’Aude. The town was built by the Romans in 118 BC. The\u00a0historic center bears witness to many centuries of history<\/strong>, including the Gothic cathedral, the archbishops’ palace and the remains of the Domitian Way.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carcassonne<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everyone knows Carcassonne for its\u00a0medieval city<\/strong>, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The ramparts, the Ch\u00e2teau Comtal, the first walls from the Gallo-Roman era, a visit to the inner ramparts. Carcassonne also offers a wonderful festival in July. Lagrasse<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lagrasse, in the heart of the Corbi\u00e8res mountains, is one of France’s most beautiful villages<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stroll through the medieval village, follow the signposted route, visit the abbey and have lunch at the restaurant Le Bastion. On Saturday mornings, there’s a small market under the halls, which date back to the 4th century. Ribaute<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ribaute<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is a small village on the banks of the Orbieu.\u00a0It’s the summer spot where all river-swimming enthusiasts gather<\/strong>. It’s a popular spot, so in summer it can get quite crowded. Swimming in the Orbieu is a delight, and you can spend a relaxing day by the water with your picnic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Canal du Midi<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Canal du Midi<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>links Toulouse to the Mediterranean and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Canal crosses 4 d\u00e9partements: Tarn, Haute Garonne, Aude and Herault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key figures: 240 km long, 14 years in the making, 63 locks, 126 bridges, 55 aqueducts and 7 canal bridges. Whether you want to explore it by bike, boat or on foot, the Canal is a must-see tourist attraction. Stroll through its medieval streets and learn all about the Cathars who took refuge in Minerve in 1210.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
